Yohen Tenmoku Tea Bowl — Doam-yo, Kiln of Ji Sun-tak
$1,995.00
A spotted yohen ("kiln-transformed") tenmoku tea bowl from Doam-yo, the kiln of Ji Sun-tak — Gyeonggi Province Intangible Heritage No. 4 and one of the potters who revived traditional Korean ceramics in the 20th century.
Yohen is the rarest effect in black-glaze ware: in the heat of the kiln, iron in the glaze separates into spots that can catch an iridescent sheen. It cannot be fully controlled, so no two surfaces are alike — the quality Song-dynasty connoisseurs prized above all in a tea bowl.
