Openwork Celadon Tea Bowl with Inlaid Lotus by Park Gyeong-seon
$675.00
A celadon tea bowl combining pierced openwork lotus with inlaid decoration, by Suho Park Gyeong-seon.
Openwork (tugak) celadon — where the design is cut clean through the clay wall before firing — was among the most technically demanding forms of Goryeo ceramics: one slip of the knife or a warp in the kiln ruins the piece. Here pierced lotus blossoms, the Buddhist flower of purity, are paired with inlay beneath a soft green glaze.
