Okura Toen Blue Rose Incense Burner

Ōkura Tōen 'Blue Rose' Porcelain Incense Burner, Koju Limited Edition

$779.00

Ōkura Tōen's signature 'Blue Rose', translated into a lidded incense burner as a limited original for the Ginza incense house Koju.

Ōkura Tōen of Yokohama is known for its very white hard-paste porcelain, fired at 1460°C, and for 'oka-zome', a technique in which cobalt is painted onto the once-fired body and fused in a second high firing, so the blue softens into the glaze. The Blue Rose pattern is the firm's emblem. The lid is pierced, so incense can be burned with it closed, and the piece comes with incense ash in a wooden box.
