Inlaid Celadon Tea Bowl with Cranes & Clouds by Jeong Gwang-sik

A celadon tea bowl inlaid with cranes among clouds and a bosang floral scroll, by the senior potter Gwangdeok Jeong Gwang-sik.

Sanggam — carving a design and filling it with white and black clay beneath celadon glaze — was developed by Goryeo potters in the 12th century and has no direct precedent in Chinese celadon. Cranes flying through clouds became its signature motif, a wish for long life rendered in jade-green glaze.
