Crane Tea Bowl (Ip-hak) by Kim Young-sik — Joseon-yo, Mungyeong
$1,250.00
A tall tea bowl inlaid with cranes — the ip-hak pattern — by Kim Young-sik of Joseon-yo in Mungyeong.
Cranes in flight were the defining motif of Goryeo inlaid celadon, a symbol of longevity and the scholar's freedom. Here the motif moves onto a deeper, more upright bowl form suited to thick tea or to the hand in winter. Made on the kick wheel and fired in a wood kiln, so each bowl's surface and color are its own.
