Yoshida Minori Kinrande Lidded Yunomi Teacup, Bellflower Arabesque on Green
A lidded teacup by Living National Treasure Yoshida Minori, its green ground drawn over in gold with a bellflower arabesque.
Yoshida Minori, third head of the Kinzan kiln, was recognised as a Holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property in 2001 for his yuri-kinsai gold work. The dealer notes his Asahi Ceramic Exhibition award, the Takamatsu-no-miya Prize at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition and the Medal with Purple Ribbon. This cup is decorated in kinrande, the Kutani manner of drawing in gold over coloured enamel; the flowers in the scrolling arabesque are kikyō (Chinese bellflower). The fitted lid keeps tea warm and makes the piece equally at home on a desk or a tea tray.
