Wanato Obidome Snow Rabbit

Wanato Cloisonné and Silver Obidome 'Snow Rabbit' with Plum Blossom

$619.00

A plump snow rabbit with a sprig of plum, worked in shippō enamel, silver and copper by the artist Wanato.

Yuki-usagi, rabbits shaped from snow with leaf ears and berry eyes, are a traditional winter pastime in Japan, and here Wanato pairs one with plum blossom, the first flower of the new year. The gallery describes it as soft and plump. The piece combines shippō (enamel) with silver and copper plate and is made as an obidome for a narrow sanbu-himo obi cord, fittings included in the stated size. A seasonal accent for kimono, or a small enamel work to display through the winter months.
