Marbled White Porcelain Tea Bowl (Yeollimun) — Doam-yo, Kiln of Ji Sun-tak

$1,595.00

A yeollimun (marbled) tea bowl in white porcelain from Doam-yo, the kiln of Ji Sun-tak, Gyeonggi Province Intangible Heritage No. 4.

Marbled ware is made by layering and folding clays of different colors, so the pattern runs through the body rather than sitting on the surface. Goryeo potters made rare marbled celadons in the 12th century; the technique was nearly lost and revived by modern masters. Every swirl is set at the wheel and cannot be repeated.
