Mansei Silver Obidome / Sage 'Frog on a Treble Clef' with Gold Eyes
$1,209.00
A silver frog straddling a brass treble clef, with eyes of 18k gold and red copper, by metal artist Mansei.
This is a distinctive design from Mansei (Uehara Mansei), whose small metalwork pieces are carried by the gallery alongside netsuke artists. The frog is worked in silver with eyes in 18k gold and red copper, crossing a treble clef in brass. Made as an obidome (sash clip for a kimono obi cord), it can also be used as a hanging ornament (sage) by passing a dedicated wooden fitting through it. The gallery calls it a showcase of Mansei's handwork, and it reads equally well worn or displayed as a miniature sculpture.
