Goryeo Tenmoku Tea Bowl No. 3 by Yi Gu-won — Goryeo Cheonmok-yo
$3,295.00
A tall black-glazed tea bowl from Goryeo Cheonmok-yo, the studio of Yi Gu-won, which takes its name from Korea's Goryeo-era black-glaze tradition.
Tenmoku — iron-rich black glaze — began in the Jian kilns of Song China, and Goryeo potters made their own black-glazed tea wares alongside celadon. Yi Gu-won has devoted his kiln to that lesser-known line. The tall, upright profile holds heat and suits whisked tea; the glaze breaks to brown at the rim where it runs thin.
