Fujiwara Kei Bizen Square Flower Vase, Living National Treasure, Signed Box
$769.00
A four-sided Bizen flower vase (yohō hanaire) by Fujiwara Kei, with its signed wooden box.
Fujiwara Kei (1899–1983) of Okayama studied under Kaneshige Tōyō and became a Living National Treasure for Bizen ware. Bizen is unglazed stoneware fired for days in wood-burning kilns, where ash and flame leave natural marks on every surface. The square section of this vase gives each face a different firing character.
