Kyukyodo Murasakino Incense — Long Sticks in Paulownia Box
$399.00
Kyukyodo's classic agarwood incense in the long temple format — 25 cm sticks, roughly 50 minutes each, in a paulownia scroll box. Made in Kyoto; not exported by the maker.
Kyukyodo has been blending incense in Kyoto since 1663 and still supplies the Imperial Household. Murasakino is one of its oldest formulas: a reconstruction of the Heian-era kneaded incense called Kurobō, built on agarwood (jinkō) with sandalwood, musk and a dozen supporting aromatics. The scent is dry, dark and faintly sweet — woody rather than floral — and it fills a room without turning heavy. This is the chōsun (long stick) version used in temples and tea rooms, presented in a paulownia case shaped like a sutra scroll.
