Born Tokuda Masahiko, he was designated a Living National Treasure, and his gradated glaze vessels are among the most recognisable works of post-war Japanese ceramics. This narrow 24 cm form shows how his colour bands wrap and flow around a vessel.

Details

Artist: Tokuda Yasokichi III (三代 徳田八十吉)

Title: 花生 (flower vase)

Size: diameter 10 cm × height 24 cm

Glazed porcelain, Kutani

Original signed wooden box (tomobako)

Condition: good per the dealer; pre-owned

Watch: a saiyu bowl by Tokuda Yasokichi III

A short film of Tokuda Yasokichi III's gradated-glaze bowl "Reimei", from the Kutani Yaso channel.
