Born Tokuda Masahiko, he was designated a Living National Treasure, and his gradated glaze vessels are among the most recognisable works of post-war Japanese ceramics. Pieces signed with his given name come from the years before his succession and are an accessible way to collect this artist.

Details

Artist: Tokuda Masahiko, later Tokuda Yasokichi III (徳田正彦・三代 徳田八十吉)

Title: 花生 (flower vase), jar form, base signed 正彦

Size: diameter 13 cm × height 15.5 cm

Kutani porcelain

Box included (the dealer's listing title gives it as a fitted box, awasebako)

Condition: good per the dealer; pre-owned

Watch: a saiyu bowl by Tokuda Yasokichi III

A short film of Tokuda Yasokichi III's gradated-glaze bowl "Reimei", from the Kutani Yaso channel.
