Satsuma Vidro Kogei, a workshop in Satsuma-cho, Kagoshima, is one of its principal makers. Black kiriko is the hardest variant: the glass is opaque, so the cutter cannot see the line and, as the maker explains, works by sound, feel and experience alone. This 2026 design uses many flat facets on an unusual six-sided form. Being handmade, size and capacity vary slightly.

Details

Maker: Satsuma Vidro Kogei (薩摩びーどろ工芸), Kagoshima

Title: Kuro-kiriko shuhai Subaru (黒切子酒杯 昴), 2026 limited production

Material: crystal glass, black

Size: approx. 7.3 cm diameter × 5.1 cm high; approx. 55 ml

Box: maker's packaging; a wooden box is not specified on the listing

Condition: new

Watch: inside the Satsuma Vidro Kogei workshop

A studio introduction showing Satsuma kiriko being made at Satsuma Vidro Kogei, from the workshop's official channel.
