It is valued for its golden colour and lively grain, which darken to a deep amber with handling over the years. These bowls were made by an experienced Japanese craftsman signing as Mie, in the tategata (upright) form that stands slightly taller than the common flat shape. The extra-large (tokudai) size holds any glass go stones and clamshell stones up to No. 36 (about 10.1 mm thick), so they suit a premium set. The listing photo shows a sample; grain, figure and colour vary from bowl to bowl.

Details

Maker: Mie (美栄)

Material: Japanese mulberry (国産本桑)

Form/size: tategata, extra-large (立形 特大)

Capacity: all glass stones; clamshell stones up to No. 36 (approx. 10.1 mm)

Box: none stated on the listing

Condition: new

Please read before ordering

Limited availability. We confirm availability with the dealer in Japan within one business day of your order; if it has sold we refund in full immediately.

Ships from New Jersey in 2–3 weeks.
